While publishing a paper on the finite basis theorem, I ran into opposition from Paul Gordon, a leader in the field of invariant algebra.

An inner product space is named for me, which is useful for Fourier expansions, linear transformations and quantum mechanics.

I have challenged many students and mathematicians with my 23 Paris problems, some of which remain unsolved.

I ended a speech with these famous words: "We must know, we shall know."
