Sci-Tam-eh-Tam

This week's Math News lists students' definitions of mathematics, as supplied by J.D. (Sedro-Woolley). Some of the "more unusual" definitions are discussed here...

Student A: I honestly cannot define such a meaningful word…sorry. Should I feel sad on my part...or is the student being creatively evasive?

Student B: Mathematics is a party with drunk numbers colliding into each other to make something. Unusual and unexpected...wonder what is being made....and how the numbers feel the next day?

Student C: Math is the devil! This student probably will feel comfortable using "sin" in trig class....

Adult Staff: Sci-Tam-eh-Tam? It’s a cryptic message from Tam to Tam saying that mathematics is really just “Naked Physics.” This one was confusing and off-the-wall....until you read it backwards... but I am still working on understanding the "naked physics" part....
