Kepler Revisited

In 1609, Johann Kepler took four years to complete the calculations necessary for working out the orbit of Mars.

In 1964, these same calculations of Kepler were completed by a computer in only 8 seconds.

Think about this the next time someone claims students should not use a calculator, pointing to the negative effect on their mathematical skills and understandings. A level field is not always the best field for all to "play" on!
