Name a Living Mathematician

Recently, the New York Times reported a survey of Americans, where only 4% could name a living scientist....the most common response (47%) being Einstein, who died in 1955.

Then, the New York Times offered a multiple-choice quiz "Name That Scientist". No mathematicians are involved, though the name Terrance Tao does appear as a detractor.

It is a "revealing" quiz you should take. I hope you do better than I did!

Another thought, perhaps I will put together a "Name That Mathematician" quiz...can you name a living mathematician?

Note: The quiz would avoid technicalities as to what defines a mathematician...the fact that you balance a checkbook does not make you a mathematician...and all current pre-college mathematics teachers (and most college math professors) would be eliminated as well.
