A Budding Lobechevsky

The Annual Burlington Liars Club Contest (2006) is now history, and James Wilberg, age 15, has been declared the "World's Champion Liar."

Overcoming 300 entries from around the world, Wilberg's entry was "There are only three kinds of people. Those who can do math, and those who can't."

My concern (spurred by the national press that his entry has received)....Mr. Wilberg should win a Double Liars Ribbon, as that entry is not his creation despite his claim that he wanted to keep his "words short and deceptively sweet" and "I think of myself as a pretty honest person."

His entry is a "classic" amongst mathematics teachers, being shared on numerous Internet sites (e.g. Club Infinity) for more than ten years and with variations of it gracing the front of many t-shirts (e.g. CafePress).

Thus, not only should young Mr. Wilberg win the World Liars Club Contest, but also the World Plagarizer Club Contest"!
