Grade Five Smarts

On a recent Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? show (July 5, 2007), the $50,000 question was fifth grade math: "If y = 3x and 3x = 12, then what number does y equal?"

Panic filled the contestant's face. When asked what number was running through her mind, she said; "4." Jeff Foxworthy, the host, did a visual check of the "Studio" students' answers, and stated that only one of them had the value "4."

The contestant dropped out. Alas...another victum of transitivitis!

My question: What Grade Five text has that algebra question in it?
