You are probably making your plans for next summer...a trip, a vacation, some reading.... Why not plan to attend the International Congress on Mathematics Education? It is being held July 6-13, 2008 in Monterrey, Mexico.
Why should you attend? First, it will be a great experience in an attractive location. Second, you will learn a lot about how mathematics education is taught on an international basis...which will give you a better perspective on how you should/could teach mathematics in your own classroom. And third, you not only will meet some great people but also be exposed to some interesting speakers from throughout the world.
The Congress' activites include plenary lectures, Topic Study Groups on a myriad of topics, Discussion Groups on almost anything you would want to discuss (relative to learning/teaching mathematics), workshops, poster sessions, international vendors, and tours.
