In a Math Recipe, Don't Overdo the Division

The following image was found accidently...and I could not decide what MathNEXUS category it fit: MathLint, Humor, Resource, etc.


What are your thoughts regarding what apparently was a prompted writing task?

I enjoyed the creativity of the two student's recipes...and they even showed some hints of mathematical understanding at times.

What bothered me was the rubric assessment questions. How can one differentiate these two student's "deepest level" of understanding? And, how would their mathemmatical knowledge deepen by exploring the recipe analogy further?

But, one thing is true! Relative to the other ingredients in Crissey's recipe, the one gallon of division is revealing...of the overbearing impact of division on our math curriculum. No wonder our resultant outcomes are so so "heavy."
