Notice...."The Art of...."

In London in 1721, William Hawney wrote this 346-page text The Compleat Measurer or, The Whole Art of Measuring. The book focused on "teaching decimal arithmetick, with the extraction of the square and cube roots. And also the multiplication of feet and inches, commonly call'd cross-multiplication teaching to measure all sorts of superficies and solids, by decimals, by cross-multiplication, and by scale and compasses."
