Rather, it exists because educational leadership remains silent--unwilling or unable to assume responsibility for curriculum development...The math program is shaped in the image of the tests...the characterization has unsavory overtones that may offend ethical and professional sensitivities; it may cause a bit of squirming.

Bob Wirtz was a fantastic mathematics educator, who made sense out of both the teaching and learning of mathematics. I miss his wisdom, his materials (CDA), and his sane approach to math education.
