For Those Calculating Souls Who Tend to Lose Things...

Mathematics teachers always like free things...it is part of our psyche. Thus, if you are unaware of this resource, you may want to take advantage of Holt, Rinehart and Winston's provision of multiple on-line calculators.

Three different calculators are made available:

  • A graphing calculator that graphs four equations, finds intersection points, has adjustable axes, and plots sets of data points
  • A statistics and sequences calculator that uses a data set to draw line graphs, scatterplots, histograms, box & whisker plots...plus generates statistical measures and sequences
  • A scientific calculator that does a lot...almost anything you want, except create a graph
Play with them...they are powerful for demonstration uses...and helpful alternatives when you cannot find your TI calculator under a pile of homework papers to correct!

Also, Holt, Rinehart and Winston has made available an on-line version of algebra tiles, which can be useful for demonstration purposes in a classroom or for student-use at-home.

If you use other on-line tools that are FREE, please send me their links so that I can possibly pass them on to other mathematics teachers.
