Massaging the Message
Bob Hazen suggested this video on a MathForum listserve, with the words "Got 11 and 1/2 minutes to learn something about teaching math? Watch this short presentation about change, and discuss with your peers..." After watching it, I concluded it should be shared via this web site.
The video is taken from a talk by Dan Meyer, given at a TED meeting in New York City in March 2010. If you are not familiar with Dan Meyer, he has become a very popular blogger/tweeter in the area of mathematics education. In addition to teaching high school mathematics in the San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District , he works part-time for Google.
Again, as part of the resources on this web-site, I am trying to suggest an on-line video(s) each month. Thus, if you have a favorite video (e.g. YouTube, TeacherTube, whatever....), please send the link to me (with your comments?) and I will try to include it and share it with others.
