In the Quotation section for this week, I shared my favorite poem "Arithmetic" by Carl Sandburg, an American poet.
Though I create my own visual images while reading this poem, several people have tried to create other visual images related to either the full poem or parts of it. You might share this with students and perhaps suggest they produce their own creative versions.
The first is the short video
Arithmetic. Not sure who made it...?
The second is the short visual play on the last part of the poem
Arithmetic. Rick Lange created this as a project for a class. Very creative!
Finally, a short 6-minute movie was made in 1995, entitled oddly enough Sandburg's Arithmetic. I have not seen it...nor do I have the $79 needed to purchase a copy from Pyramid Media. Has anyone seen it?
Again, as part of the resources for this year, I am trying to suggest an on-line video(s) each month. Thus, if you have a favorite video (e.g. YouTube, TeacherTube, whatever....), please send the link to me (with your comments?) and I will try to include it and share it with others.
