Foolin' with Your Visual Mind!

A mathematics video in time for Halloween, though such may prove an odd combination. It is worth watching and sharing with your students...perhaps it will raise some discussion...though probably not about mathematics.

Professor Matthew Weathers created the Halloween Video for his Nature of Math class at Biola University (October 28, 2009). Having been viewed more than 1.5 million times, the video experiments with video editing so that video can be mixed with live action. Be sure to read his commentary as well.

Too bad that the video skips the proof that 1 = 2.

Weathers also has posted a similar video for April Fools Day, plus a video explaining how he makes these video experiences. If you are interested in doing something as creative, follow those links.

Again, as part of the resources for this next year, I am trying to suggest an on-line video(s) each month. Thus, if you have a favorite video (e.g. YouTube, TeacherTube, whatever....), please send the link to me (with your comments?) and I will try to include it and share it with others.
