Weighty Data

Wait! Before you eat that sandwich...Do you know that weight is a growing problem in the United States. Consider this data:
  • Currently, 64.5% of United States adults, age 20 years and older, are overweight (BMI>24), 30.5% are obese (BMI>29), and 4.7% are severly obese (BMI>39).
  • Approximately 30.3% of children (ages 6 to 19) are overweight and 15.4% are obese.
Task 1: Use Venn Diagrams to illustrate this data.

Task 2: If the ten-year growth rate for the three overweight categories for the adult population are 15%, 33%, and 62% respectively, when would you expect 100% of the United States adult population to be overweight? Obese? Severely obese?
